Stand up for home sharing in Miami-Dade

The Miami-Dade County Commission is holding its final hearing this Tuesday, October 3rd, to discuss a proposed ordinance which would excessively regulate home sharing and vacation rentals across unincorporated areas of the county.

The proposed ordinance would require all hosts to comply with:

  • Excessive registration requirements, including obtaining a Certificate of Use, regardless of whether or not the property is host-occupied;
  • A yearly, and expensive, inspection requirement by which all properties would be subject to a mandatory inspection by Miami-Dade County, even if the host only rents one room.

These restrictions would place a burden on our host community and would unfairly force residential property owners to comply with regulations akin to those for big business and commercial properties.
